Apple iMac computers have always been great, iMac computers have always been cool, iMac computers have always been beautifully designed but iMac computers have never been the Apple computer that I purchased, For a number of reasons I always bought Apple tower computers like the Mac Pro. This time was different. This time the iMac is great, the iMac is cool and the iMac is beautifully designed and the iMac is mine.
I bought an iMac this time because, well, this time it just made more sense to buy the iMac than the Mac Pro. Apple has made the iMac quit a powerful computer and the top of the line iMac has enough power to give Apple’s entry level Mac Pro a run for it’s money. I guess that was the real reason I bought my iMac. A highly spec’ed iMac was nearly as fast as a Mac Pro and was less expensive and that was before taking into consideration the Mac Pro requires the purchase of a monitor and the iMac has one built in.
Another thought I had about the iMac when I was considering my next computer purchase was that the iMac is capable of being used as a monitor so if I ever get another Mac Pro I could use the iMac as a monitor.
The iMac is Apple’s line of all in one computers. Originally introduced in 1998, the first iMac computer were fun and cool. With a number of design revision the iMac computer has evolved into a cool, sleek, powerful computer and even professionals see the iMac as a viable option for their computer needs and as I’ve mentioned that why I bought this new iMac.
My new iMac is the 27 inch model. I upgraded the processor in my new iMac to a 3.5GHz Intel i7 and the memory from 8 GB in the standard iMac to 16GB. I also upgraded the graphic card in my new iMac to the 4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M. I’m hoping that is enough power to keep my iMac running well into the future.
The iMac I bought is the normal 27 inch iMac not the 5k Retina Display iMac. The 5k retina display iMac looks like a great iMac but for me there wasn’t enough of a difference in monitor performance between the two iMac computers so I put the money into upgrading the regular iMac instead of getting the 5k Retina Display iMac
