Here’s my version of the RPi Internet radio. I used a Raspberry Pi as the main component. The display is a Adafruit seven segment display and backpack. I used an in expensive Lepai amplifier to power the speakers. I took the speakers out of a set of outdoor monitor speakers I found at a thrift store. The knob is a cheap rotary encoder, with on board resistors (ready to go on the RPi). The black button stops the stream. The blue button plays my most listened to station. The white button plays the Wilhelm scream. Pushing black and white together sends a shutdown signal to the RPi. – The Pi runs MPD which is controlled by MPC. MPC is controlled by a python script that reads the states of the buttons and rotary encoder. The display is controlled by an “Adafruit LED backpack” and software supplied by Adafruit.
